NEW IMAGES - Kids Choice Awards

Our gallery has had TONS of new images recently, including seventeen new photographs of Bindi, Robert and Terri at the Kids Choice Awards 2011! How cute is Bindi's sequin dress? These great photos are now in our gallery. Click here to view them!

In other news, little Robert is going to be getting his own TV SHOW! More news coming soon!

Irwins dazzle on 'orange' carpet

BINDI Irwin gave models Erin McNaught and Samantha Harris a run for their money on the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards orange carpet yesterday.

The 13-year-old and her brother Bob were up for the Hall of Slime Award against much older nominees Rove McManus, Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Guy Sebastian.

They greeted fans on the orange carpet outside the Sydney Entertainment Centre along with their mum Terri.

"We're so excited, the Hall of Slime award, we can't wait," Bindi told The Daily.

It was little Bob's first chance at getting slimed - a messy rite of passage for celebrities at the child-voted awards.

"Robert's never been slimed before so we told him how it feels, like being covered in conditioner," said Bindi. "As you can see Robert's wearing his best khakis just in case he gets slimed, that way it can wash out easily."

Bob, who was missing a front tooth, added: "I'm looking forward to getting slimed!"

In contrast, Bindi wore a black taffeta dress with gold and silver sequins.

"It's nice to dress up and be a bit of a girly-girl and get out of the Australia Zoo khakis," she said.

When asked by presenter Daniel MacPherson why they should win, Bindi and Bob had some good answers prepared.

"Me and Bindi have been coming to the Kids' Choice Awards since I was in nappies," Bob said.

"We've been slimed so many times we're the ultimate greenies," added Bindi.

The siblings were clearly surprised when a banner was revealed announcing they were the winners to be inducted into the Hall of Slime.

There was only a minute to celebrate before Bob finally got his chance to be slimed.

The Irwins take us to Steve's place

Chasing crocs in the Cape York wilderness is the perfect getaway for Terri, Bindi and Robert. PHILLIP KOCH joins them on their annual pilgrimage to “Steve’s Place”.

Terri Irwin shares her life and family with the world – but when she, Bindi and Robert head to the bush, it’s back to basics, cooking, eating and washing around a camp fire. That their temporary campsite is perched on the bank of the Wenlock River, which is home to hundreds of crocodiles, only makes it more appealing for this family of wildlife warriors.

This week marks five years since Steve Irwin’s shocking death on September 4, 2006, when he was killed by a giant stingray’s poisonous barb. His wife and children are on their yearly pilgrimage to “Steve’s Place”, 135,000 hectares of untouched wilderness that’s a living memorial to the Crocodile Hunter. “I think of it like paradise,” explains Bindi, who recently celebrated her 13th birthday. “Of course, I miss my dad but I do feel like he’s watching over us. He loved this place so much.”

Robert Irwin: The little Crocodile Hunter

A nice little video posted on Australia Zoo's Facebook feed.

Five years ago the world lost one of its most loved characters. the Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, was killed while filming his popular nature show on the Great Barrier Reef. Just two years old at the time, Robert Irwin never had the chance to get to know his dad but when we met the adventurous seven-year-old it was clear why they call him 'Little Steve'.

Click here to see the video

Steve Irwin's daughter Bindi: 'Dad watches over us'

Steve Irwin's daughter has revealed that she feels her father "watching" over her.

Bindi, who recently celebrated her 13th birthday, recently went on a pilgrimage to 'Steve's Place', the Wenlock River area where the Crocodile Hunter was killed by a giant stingray's poisonous barb in 2006.

She told Woman's Day magazine: "I think of [Steve's Place] like paradise. Of course, I miss my dad but I do feel like he's watching over us. He loved this place so much."

During the trip, the teenager, her mother Terri and 7-year-old brother Robert camped on the banks of the river, fished for wild barramundi and enjoyed being surrounded by wildlife.

Bindi described her brother as "the thinker in the family - just like dad", adding: "I think it's wonderful we are carrying on in my dad's footsteps. We really are keeping his dream alive. We are making sure everything he lived and died for continues and I hope that we are making him proud."

Terri added: "It's the million little things about being together as a family that make this [trip] so special. I love seeing [the children] play free-range. It's terrifying being a single parent. When I lost Steve, it was like I lost half my heart. The grief has never ended and it never will. I'm a strong-willed, determined woman but I really was terrified.

"I know in my heart I'm doing the best job I can. I love my children desperately and I'm never going to inhibit their opportunities to have wonderful adventures."

The Irwin family's conservation park Australia Zoo was rumored to be experiencing financial difficulties earlier this year, but Terri denied the reports.

Bindi's 13th Birthday Party

FANS around the world have watched Bindi Irwin grow from a little girl into a stylish young lady and now there's no denying the Crocodile Hunter's little girl is all grown up.

Bindi, the rocking Wildlife Warrior star, showed off her love for a bit of retro fashion and music when she celebrated her 13th birthday with family and fans at Australia Zoo yesterday.

With mum Terri and little brother Bob in tow, Bindi turned the clock back to the 1950s with zoo staff, mascots and fans decked out in bobby socks and poodle skirts.

The cast from the musical Grease performed live in the Crocoseum, Elvis fed the crocs, Buddy Holly wandered the zoo grounds and 1950s vintage cars paraded through the venue.

Bindi dressed to impress in her best rock'n'roll outfit and 1950s hairstyle to arrive in a vintage Cadillac.

"It was so exciting," she said as the party raged.

"It was great to see so many kids were in the audience and joining in the festivities.

"We had '50s dance workshops, the cast from the musical Grease and the best cake ever.

"I couldn't have asked to have a better day."

School of hard crocs out for Bindi

BINDI Irwin celebrated a graduation with a difference in front of hundreds of fans at Australia Zoo yesterday.

After spending two years in “croc school” learning safe feeding and handling techniques, the 12-year-old took on her first public demonstration of the tail-walking abilities of the saltwater crocodile, which they use to jump out of the water to catch prey.

Her mother Terri fondly recalls a two-year-old Bindi bursting into tears whenever she could not go down to the Crocoseum and watch her dad at work.

A decade later, Bindi bravely stepped on to the podium and, under the guidance of zoo director Wes Mannion, rewarded 400kg Monty with three meat strips and a “rat burger” for demonstrating his tail-walking abilities.

“It was an amazing experience,” Bindi gushed once the demonstration was complete.

“I was a bit nervous and everything feels like it’s going in slow motion but it’s important to teach people how to be safe around croc territory and learn to love these great modern day dinosaurs.”

With her first show complete, Bindi will become a fixture at the Crocoseum in the school holidays, feeding the crocs every day until Sunday, July 10

April Calanders

Thanks to Stephanie (bindi-irwin.com) for the calander above.

STEVE Irwin's widow Terri has been quietly selling off properties from a multimillion-dollar portfolio amassed by the star couple.

In a sign Australia Zoo has hit hard times, Mrs Irwin has placed several Sunshine Coast properties on the market, the Sunday Mail reports.

A number of zoo exhibits are on hold or delayed.

Mrs Irwin has admitted a horrific wet summer drastically affected visitor numbers and forced job cuts.

An investigation reveals Mrs Irwin has been trying to offload properties since late last year many at a loss.

Four directly border the zoo on Fraser and Bunney roads, Beerwah, and were originally purchased back when expansion plans were at full throttle.

Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar.
End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar.
A sprawling 95ha parcel at Peachester, with views of the Glass House Mountains, is the largest for sale with a $1.25 million price tag.

Mrs Irwin has also sold a $1.3 million luxury property, at a $380,000 loss, next to the family's $3.22 million home at Minyama the Sunshine Coast's millionaire's row.

Beerwah Real estate agents, who have been sworn to secrecy, refused to reveal the identity of any of the properties' owners nor their addresses. However a record search reveals they were owned by Silverback Properties Pty Ltd or Rosette Properties Pty Ltd, whose sole owner is Terri Irwin.

At the time of his death in 2006, Steve Irwin and Terri had amassed a property portfolio estimated at $20 million.

The holdings included 33,730ha of former grazing land at St George, 1092ha at Emu Creek, southwest of Blackbutt, and 115ha at Landsborough.

After her husband's death, Terri finalised several deals, including 135,000ha at Wenlock on Cape York, which was refunded through a $6 million federal grant.

She also completed a land swap with the State Government last year, handing over a 200ha parcel at the foot of Mt Beerwah in exchange for state forest to the south of the zoo for its expansion.

But Steve's ambitious expansion plans are now on hold, including the partly-constructed Madagascar Island.

A rhino and three giraffes were bought for an Africa Exhibit, which was meant to be completed last year but has been delayed until December. And the grand vision of a $100 million open-range African Safari Resort, with animals roaming a plain, is on the backburner.

An Australia Zoo spokesperson said the zoo had been affected by the recent downturn in tourism. "In response to this, we have conducted an extensive and thorough review of the business and our operations, exploring all other avenues of cost savings right across the business," she said.
