Almah the Albino Scores New Home

WEIGHING in at a staggering 45kg and stretching out to a whopping 4.2 metres long, it took the combined efforts of three Australia Zoo reptile keepers, plus Terri, Bindi and Robert Irwin to carry Alimah into her new enclosure. Terri said Alimah was the only albino Burmese python on display in Australia. "She is an interesting snake because they grow to be one of the giants," she said. "She will grow to be about 4.8 metres and about 100kg." Last week, Lilly the famous reticulated python at Australia Zoo died of old age. Lilly, at between 35-40 years old, was one of the largest and oldest pythons in captivity. Bindi said she had known Lilly all her life. "Saying goodbye to her was certainly sad," she said. "But she has spent over 30 fantastic years here at Australia Zoo and I am sure Alimah is going to love her new home as much as Lilly did." Robert said Alimah was such a gorgeous python and she seemed to have felt right at home. Source - Sunshine Coast Daily
